Located in the heart of downtown Cobourg, the NHS Thrift Store is your go-to destination for practical household items, vintage treasures, and unexpected gems. Whether you're moving, spring cleaning, or downsizing, donating your new or gently used items is a meaningful way to support local animals in need.

Volunteer With Us
The NHS Thrift Store is proudly staffed by volunteers, and we’re always looking for passionate, reliable individuals to join our team. Whether you're helping on the sales floor or behind the scenes, your time directly supports the animals at the Northumberland Humane Society.
Shifts are available Monday to Saturday, mornings 10.00am to 1.00pm or afternoons 1.00pm to 4.00pm.
Volunteers choose the shift/s that work best with their schedule, with some preferring to do a full day instead of a 3 hour shift. Whatever works for you, works for us! We grateful that you are choosing to share your time with the NHS.
Join Our PAWsome People Pack
Volunteers must be 18 years or older and must complete a police check.
Cobourg and Port Hope residents: Contact your local police service

We host volunteer appreciation events throughout the year, and all of our volunteers are part of our PAWsome People Pack — a group of animal lovers making a real difference, one paw at a time.

We gratefully accept donations at the rear of the building between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
At this time, we cannot accept:
Large furniture, large appliances, or computers
No Christmas decorations
