Help When You Need It
Pet Food Bank
At the Northumberland Humane Society, we understand that life can be challenging and there may be times when it's difficult to meet the needs of your pet(s).
As part of our commitment to supporting the community, our Pet Food Bank offers a two-week supply of pet food to residents of Northumberland County experiencing hardship.
If you need assistance, please call us in advance. We'll prepare your food package for pick-up during regular business hours at the shelter.
Pet Aid
The NHS Pet Aid Program provides financial assistance to low-income pet owners in Northumberland County to help cover the cost of spay and neuter surgeries.
Spaying and neutering not only helps control the pet population — it also plays a vital role in your pet’s long-term health and well-being.
This program was created in loving memory of Fiona Crouch, whose generous bequest continues to support animals in our community through Pet Aid.
You can complete the application online or download the form to drop off at NHS.
Animal Surrender
Surrendering your pet is a final decision.
Once surrendered, your pet becomes the property of NHS and cannot be reversed.
Surrender forms for dogs, cats and small animals can be downloaded below for completion as part of the surrender process.
