For nearly four years, Rebecca Verbeem has been part of that heartbeat, weaving her time, skills, and heart into the daily life of the shelter.
Where It All Began: The Cat Room
Her journey started nearly four years ago inside the cat room. Surrounded by quiet purrs, cautious gazes, and the occasional burst of playful curiosity, she learned the foundational rhythm of shelter life, socializing shy felines, keeping spaces pristine, and offering gentle reassurance to animals waiting for their next chapter. Today, she can be found tackling a regular morning cleaning shift once a week, rolling up her sleeves to ensure the animals wake up to safe, spotless environments.
The Foster Story: Eight Feline Souls
Beyond the shelter walls, her home became a temporary sanctuary. Over time, she opened her doors to three different foster groups, successfully fostering a total of eight cats and kittens. Fostering is a masterclass in patience and letting go, welcoming timid or recovering souls into a family routine, nursing them through their vulnerabilities, and eventually experiencing the bittersweet joy of watching them graduate to their forever homes.
Coordinating Community and Events
