It’s our 60th Anniversary!

Hello Friends!

For 60 years the Northumberland Humane Society has been a trusted part of our community. As a charitable organization that receives little to no government funding, we rely heavily on the generosity of businesses and individuals like you, to continue providing compassionate care and second chances to animals every day.

And now a new year is here, bringing fresh opportunities to make a difference for the animals who rely on us every day. January is all about looking ahead, spreading love, and getting our community involved in fun and meaningful ways.

It’s time to preheat those ovens and sprinkle a little kindness! PUPcake Day is here, and we’re inviting our amazing community to bake, sell, and share cupcakes in support of the animals at the Northumberland Humane Society.

Whether you host a bake sale at work, school, or with friends—or just whip up something sweet at home—every cupcake sold helps provide food, medical care, and safe shelter for animals in need.

🐣Sweet News: Purdy’s Easter Treats Coming Soon

Spring may feel far away, but our Purdy’s Easter fundraising campaign will be hopping into action soon! Stock up on delicious chocolate treats while supporting animals in our care—sweet for you, lifesaving for them.

💗Time for a HAPPY TAIL!

Sally came to us after she was seized by animal welfare after years of neglect and abuse. Used only for breeding. Never shown kindness. Never shown love.

When she arrived, trust was something she didn’t yet know how to give. Humans had only ever failed her.

For a full year, she stayed with us, slowly learning that gentle hands exist, that safety is real, and that love doesn’t have to hurt. Day by day, she healed. Day by day, her heart opened.

And then… her happy ending came.

An incredible family saw past her past and chose her. Today, Sally is finally home — loved, safe, and cherished.

This is why we do what we do. These transformations. These second chances.

It’s a social, rewarding way to support NHS—and no experience is needed. Training is provided, and every shift makes a real difference.
